Welcome to Year 6

Welcome to our new Class Page!

In Year 6 we are enthusiastic, hard-working and an inspiration to others. We always put others before ourselves and try our best. Our kind nature is rooted in our faith and we try to live like Jesus in all aspects of school life.

We all have a role or responsibility to support our school community, helping younger children and staff member alike. We know that Year 6 can be tough with the end of year tests but we embrace the journey and have lots of fun and laughter along the way!

Being prepared for school each day

Children will need their waterproof coat, a bottle filled with water, a bag for reading books and homework and a packed lunch (if required). Pencil cases and other school equipment will be provided for children by school. It is important that we limit what is being brought into school, so pencil cases and other accessories from home won’t be needed.

Break and lunch times

Children have one breaktime in the morning. For this time, they are welcome to bring a healthy snack with them to eat during break.

Tasks will be set on Friday and will be sent home via a homework book and a message on Dojo. All homework needs to be returned on Wednesday and spellings will be tested on Friday.

Reinforcing learning at home is an essential part of the learning process, so please encourage your child to complete and return their weekly tasks.

Each week there will be:

  • Maths sheet to reinforce weekly learning
  • Set of spellings linked to our weekly sound or vocabulary focus with a spelling activity
  • Read three times to an adult
  • A maths and spelling activity on Ed Shed.

Children who complete their homework and read 3 times a week are rewarded with Dojo points and raffle tickets.

Our PE day is Monday.

Children should come to school in their PE kit, comprising of a white t shirt, plain black shorts or joggers/leggings/tracksuit trousers, dark coloured trainers or black plimsols and school hoodie/jumper/cardigan.

Earrings need to be removed for PE lessons, therefore children should come to school without their earrings or please ensure your child can take out and put them back in after the PE lesson.
